This post will be about different diseases your veggies can catch and how they occur and how to stop them.
A very common disease called Powdery mildew is often seen in plants like cucumbers, zucchini, pumpkin and squash. Powdery mildew is caused by a type of fungi that is in the Erysiphacea family, it is carried in the wind by neighboring plants and germinates a spore in the leaves of a plant. A few ways to stop powdery mildew is by watering the base of the plant and not the leaves, and using horticultural furtalisers and oil to get rid of the disease, prune off the infected areas of the plant and make sure their is enough air circulation for the plant to thrive.
Another common disease is black spot. Black spot is often seen in roses, tomatoes and potatoes. It too is a fungal disease it occurs from humid conditions and lots of water on leaves. You can tell it is Black spot by the leaves yellowing and the plant getting lots of black spots all over its leaves and stem. Black spot is highly contagious but easy to remove. First prune off any areas on the plant that has been contaminated by the disease, apply fungicides to the plant, water in early morning to prevent leaves from burning from the sun.
